Ingredients
– 1 package (15.25 oz) Oreo cookies
– 8 oz cream cheese, softened
– 1 lb green candy melts
– 1 tsp vegetable oil (optional, for thinning)
– Red sugar sprinkles (for decoration)
– 12 mini chocolate chips (for eyes)
Instructions
Making Grinch Oreo Truffles is simple and requires just a few steps:
1. Crush the Oreos: In a food processor, crush the Oreo cookies into fine crumbs.
2. Mix with Cream Cheese: In a mixing bowl, combine the crushed Oreos with the softened cream cheese. Mix until well combined and smooth.
3. Chill the Mixture: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for about 10-15 minutes. This helps firm up the mixture for easier handling.
4. Form the Truffles: Once chilled, scoop out small amounts of the Oreo mixture and roll into balls about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
5. Melt the Candy Coating: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the green candy melts according to package instructions. Stir until smooth. If desired, add a teaspoon of vegetable oil to create a thinner consistency.
6. Coat the Truffles: Dip each Oreo ball into the melted green candy coating, ensuring it is fully covered. Use a fork to lift it out and gently tap to remove excess coating. Return to the parchment-lined baking sheet.
7. Decorate: While the coating is still wet, add two mini chocolate chips for eyes and sprinkle red sugar on top to create your Grinch’s signature look.
Once you’ve decorated the truffles, place them back in the refrigerator to set for about 20 minutes.
